A Thermistor PTC 2K is a temperature-sensitive resistor that increases in resistance as temperature increases. It has a nominal resistance of 2 kilo-ohms at room temperature, operates within a temperature range of -40°C to 125°C, and has a tolerance of +/- 5%. It is commonly used as a temperature sensor in electronic devices and systems.

Description

A Thermistor PTC 2K is a type of thermistor that operates based on the principle of positive temperature coefficient (PTC). The term “thermistor” is a contraction of the words “thermal” and “resistor”, and refers to a type of temperature-sensitive resistor that changes its resistance with changes in temperature.

In the case of a PTC thermistor, as the temperature increases, the resistance of the thermistor also increases. This is due to the increase in the number of charge carriers in the thermistor material, which leads to a decrease in the mobility of the charge carriers, and hence an increase in resistance. This effect is known as the “positive temperature coefficient” (PTC).

pecifications for a typical Thermistor PTC 2K:

  1. Nominal resistance: 2 kilo-ohms (2000 ohms) at 25°C (77°F)
  2. Operating temperature range: -40°C to 125°C (-40°F to 257°F)
  3. Tolerance: +/- 5%
  4. Maximum power rating: 100 mW
  5. Thermal time constant: < 15 seconds
  6. Dissipation factor: 4 mW/°C
  7. Beta value: 4300 K
  8. Size and shape: Typically cylindrical or disc-shaped, with a diameter of 2-5 mm and a height of 2-5 mm
  9. Material: Typically made of ceramic or polymer with embedded PTC material
